Summary
This is a technical position assuming various years of experience. A Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent is required. The job performance requires advanced technical abilities as well as an understanding of product design and development methodologies. Additional expectation is that the Engineer will have proficiency in computer communication tools (i.e. Microsoft Office products), computer aided engineering tools (Pro E preferred), scheduling (Microsoft Project), design documentation (Excel, MathCad), and documentation of intellectual property. This position is with a Medical Device company; experience in the area of FDA and Regulatory requirements and Standards is needed.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience leading the design of medical devices including, mechanical design, testing and analysis, verification and validation
- Demonstrated practical development of component and product technical specifications including the integration and consideration of applicable standards and regulations
- Understanding of Program Management tools and expectations of Medical Device Design Controls
- Ability to communicate with and direct of external suppliers of components, subassemblies and finished assemblies
- Experience generating and documenting intellectual property
- Creation of 3-D CAD database
- Demonstrated understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance
- Mechanical Analysis including Statics & Dynamics, Finite Element Modeling, and Material Properties
- Demonstrated understanding of test method development
- Understanding of manufacturing methods including plastic injection molding, metallic stamping, and metallic machining.
- Experience working in team environment
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in mechanical, electrical, or manufacturing engineering. Graduate degree desired but not required.
- 5-10 years of experience in medical device or related manufacturing
- Working knowledge of ISO standards, procedures and guidelines and their effect on manufacturing practices
- Experience in reading blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Experience in the design, including CAD experience
- Inspection/testing experience
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to produce clear and concise written documents
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Highly motivated individual, able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes
- Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
- Experience in statistical analysis and statistical process control desired but not required.
- Machining experience desired but not required.
